Nakheel Properties, part of Dubai Holding’s innovative real estate division, Dubai Holding Real Estate, has secured an AED 810 million contract for marine works on Palm Jebel Ali. The contract has been awarded to Jan De Nul Dredging LTD, a subsidiary of the globally recognised Jan De Nul Group. The company will undertake dredging, land reclamation, beach profiling, and sand placement, all of which are critical to the development of villas across the fringes of the project.
Jan De Nul Dredging has already begun mobilisation efforts and is set to complete the comprehensive marine works at Palm Jebel Ali within just over two years. The first eight fronds of the development are expected to be ready for site work by Q1 2025, which will allow for the initiation of villa infrastructure and civil engineering tasks.
Following Nakheel’s recent awarding of two significant infrastructure contracts, construction has also started on a new public access road that will connect to Sheikh Zayed Road. Additionally, enhancements to roadways and lighting from the mainland to Palm Jebel Ali are underway.
Unveiled by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Palm Jebel Ali will provide a vast array of luxury lifestyle amenities for residents, families, and visitors. The project supports the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and represents a new growth corridor in the Jebel Ali area, reinforcing the emirate’s expansion.
Khalid Al Malik, CEO of Dubai Holding Real Estate, said that their partnership with Jan De Nul Dredging shows their commitment to delivering excellence and fostering innovation. As Nakheel ramps up its development efforts under Dubai Holding, the expertise of Jan De Nul Dredging in marine, civil construction, and environmental projects is crucial to the rapid progress of this transformative development. Palm Jebel Ali, in alignment with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, is poised to become a global destination, offering residents a luxurious waterfront lifestyle with expansive beachfronts and pristine waters, while setting new benchmarks in quality living and sustainability.
Last year, Palm Jebel Ali introduced over 700 units of its Phase 1 frond villas, which showcase eight distinct styles that harmonise indoor and outdoor living in a tranquil coastal environment. The advancement of infrastructure and marine works is directly facilitating the delivery of these homes, slated for handover in late 2026. This progress furthers Palm Jebel Ali’s vision as a premier residential and leisure destination. The island will ultimately span 13.4 kilometres, with 16 fronds and 91 kilometres of beachfront, supporting the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan’s goal of expanding public beach access.
Nakheel’s portfolio, comprising iconic master communities and residential developments, plays a central role in realising Dubai’s ambitious vision.
