UAE Cabinet Introduces 10-Year Blue Residency Visa

The UAE Cabinet announced a new 10-year Blue Residency visa aimed at individuals who have made significant contributions to environmental protection. This initiative also extends to those excelling in the circular economy and related fields.

A New Visa for Environmental Champions

The announcement was made during a Cabinet meeting chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, at Qasar Al Watan in Abu Dhabi.

Sheikh Mohammed said that in alignment with the national directives declared by the UAE President, designating 2024 as the Year of Sustainability, they introduced the ‘Blue Residency’ for those who have made extraordinary contributions to environment protection. This encompasses efforts in marine life, land-based ecosystems, air quality, sustainability technologies, and the circular economy.

Eligibility for the Blue Residency

The Blue Residency is specifically for supporters of environmental action, including members of international organisations, international companies, associations, non-governmental organisations, and global award winners. Distinguished activists and researchers in environmental work are also eligible.

Applications can be submitted through the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security or via nominations by competent authorities.
